Creative Futures

Welcome to Creative Futures

Creative Futures introduces a brand new collaboration between Niburu London, ENACT Youth Club and Chickenshed Theatre.
A year-long programme using creativity, heritage, and intergenerational exchange, the project’s goal is to increase confidence, wellbeing, and employability among young people (16–24) not in education, employment, or training.

Funding and Community Partnerships

We are delighted to receive both Local and National funding to bring this dynamic project to the community!

Generous funding from The National Lottery Million Hours Fund and The Royal Small Arms Trust have combined to create this new and exciting project.

We are also delighted to bring together ENACT (also funded by the RSA) and The Chickenshed Theatre Company.

The Royal Small Arms Trust

The Royal Small Arms Trust. Established in 2004, the RSA Trust makes grants to charities within Enfield and the wider community from the profits generated by RSA Island Village Ltd operating the RSA Island Centre. This is an exciting project, and the first time Niburu London have worked with this inspiring local organisation.

The National Lottery Million Hours Fund

The Million Hours Fund is funded by Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and The National Lottery Community Fund, providing additional resources to existing projects, allowing organisation to bring extra support to young people.

The incorporation of the National Lottery Million Hours Fund has provided the opportunity to extend the original project, providing an exciting opportunity to work with the Chickenshed Theatre.

ENACT

Established in 2003 and based in Enfield Island Village, ENACT Youth Club is a charity providing youth clubs, holiday programmes, and community events for local young people. Guided by the ethos to “Engage, Enhance, Encourage, and Enjoy,” it fosters belonging through fitness, life skills, mentoring, and a community garden.

We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with such an inspiring organisation and look forward to sharing news of this and further project planned for the future.

Chickenshed Theatre

Founded in 1974, is a pioneering UK-based inclusive theatre company that creates professional, original, and high-quality performances, education, and outreach projects. Operating from a former chicken shed, it champions diversity, featuring casts of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. The organisation is known for “creating wonder out of chaos” and providing an, often, transformative experience for performers and audiences.

We are delighted to have the opportunity to work Chickenshed Theatre. The experience they are able to bring to our project is second to none. Of Chickenshed’s many dynamic productions, their previous intergenerational work such as “The Space Between Us” and, “Closing The Gaps Between Generations” demonstrates the elements we hope to bring to this project.

Youth Centred Planning

Following initial meetings with ENACT in late 2025, an introductory meeting with ENACT’s Young Leaders and Niburu was arranged to measure levels of interest in the project and which direction the sessions might take. Initial feedback from young people was enthusiastic, with further meetings arranged to develop the project’s content.

From the outset, the project’s creation and planning has been driven by the young people, including session frequency and duration, subject matter and medium. During an extended planning meeting, the Young Leaders unanimously expressed an interest in acting, even taking unprompted time to plan a short film.

Community Involvement ~ The Space Between Us

The project will provide the opportunity for a core group of older residents and young people to work creatively together. The young people can directly engage in creative workshops, employability training, and volunteering roles. Older residents will have the opportunity to enjoy intergenerational storytelling and mentoring activities.

In addition to the core group, wider community members will benefit indirectly through access to exhibitions, events, and shared resources.
